The Lucira Check It COVID-19 Test is a single-use test intended to detect the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19. This test is authorized for over-the-counter (OTC) use with self-collected nasal swab samples in individuals with or without COVID-19 symptoms aged 14 and older, and in children aged 2-13 collected by an adult. This test is similar to a PCR test in that it utilizes a molecular amplification technology for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA.
Positive results are indicative of the presence of SARS-CoV-2. Individuals who test positive should self-isolate and seek additional care from their healthcare provider. Positive results do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses.
Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection. Individuals who test negative and continue to experience COVID-like symptoms should seek follow up care from their healthcare provider. Negative results are presumptive and confirmation with a molecular assay performed in a laboratory, if necessary, for patient management may be performed.

The Lucira Check It COVID-19 Test is a diagnostic test to detect SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19. The test detects if you have an active infection and does not confirm immunity or detect antibodies. It is a molecular test that amplifies the virus’s genetic material while the test is running just like PCR lab tests. Lucira’s amplification method provides a level of performance comparable to one of the highest sensitivity lab PCR tests.
Lucira detects all COVID-19 variants of interest and concern, including Omicron and all BA subvariants of concern. Lucira conducts routine surveillance of emerging SARS-CoV-2 strains and will continue to monitor the situation with emerging variants. Each test kit is a single-use and comes with everything needed to run 1 COVID-19 test.

Orders placed Sunday-Thursday should process within 24 hours. Friday and Saturday orders should process on Monday. After processing, orders are shipped the following business day, STANDARD Shipping orders should arrive within 3 days and EXPEDITED Shipping orders should arrive the next business day. You’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information when your order ships.
With private insurance, yes, in many cases Lucira tests should be fully reimbursed, and in all cases at least partially, depending on the insurance provider.
Starting January 15, 2022, private insurers must fully reimburse their members for up to 8 at-home tests/month/member, or provide members access to free tests from a preferred provider. If your insurer sets up a preferred provider program, they will still partially reimburse for tests not included in their program. When you order from Lucira, we will email you a receipt with the information insurers typically require for reimbursement. Follow your insurance provider's instructions to submit reimbursement claims.
Those covered by Medicare are not currently eligible to get reimbursed for at-home COVID-19 tests.
Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) plans are required to cover the costs of at-home tests.
